Laura Joh Rowland in China

In October 2007, my family took the trip of a lifetime.  My mother, brother, my husband, and I went on a tour of China.  We went to Beijing, Guelin, Shanghai, and Xian.  It was my second time in China.  The first time was in 1978.  China has changed dramatically during those years.  Back in 1978, it was all Mao suits and old buildings.  This time, it was so modern I thought I was in Tokyo.  Here's a picture of us on a cruise on the River Li in Guelin.
